Classes Descriptions

  • Creative Movement is a class where dancers will get a well-rounded introduction to dance by using creative games, prompts, and stories to explore their bodies, space, and more. This is a foundational beginner class for your little one to experience a drop-off style dance class without the pressure of a dance technique. Instead, dancers will use free movement, improvisation skills, and creative prompts to move through obstacle courses, games, and storytelling adventures.

  • Hip Hop Be Bop is an exciting, upbeat class for young dancers! The focus of the class will build on basic motor skills, rhythm, and listening skills while building self-confidence on and off the dance floor. The class offers a fun and encouraging environment for your littlest hip-hop stars.

  • Hip-Hop I / II is a foundational energetic dance class utilizing different styles of hip-hop inspiration to guide students to build a well-rounded technique. Students will work with combinations every week, as well as training styles to promote freestyle in all their movements.

  • Hip-Hop III/ IV is an upbeat and energetic class focusing on the fundamentals of hip hop technique. Including beginner and intermediate training in styles such as house and street jazz. We'll focus on rhythm, musicality, and encouraging freestyle in each lesson!

  • Hip-Hop Breakdance is a groovy class that focuses on the basics of breakdancing and house styles. Do not let the name intimidate you, this class is for everyone! We'll learn the breakdancing essentials while building upper body strength, rhythm, and groove into our dance repertoire. Come join us for this fun class and step out of your hip-hop comfort zone!

  • Modern Dance is the class interested in growing their modern dance technique. This beginner to beginner-intermediate leveled class will focus on the foundations of modern dance while playing with weight, balance, gravity, and flexibility. This class will help build the young dancer's confidence in bodily awareness and supports an encouraging environment among all the dancers in the studio.

  • Modern & Ballet is for beginner students looking to develop and strengthen their dance techniques. The class combines ballet technique and modern exploration. Students will not only strengthen their physical bodies, but they will also explore creatively in modern dance combinations. Students will be challenged to move between controlled and sustained movements in specific ballet techniques as well as loose and freer movements in a modern dance setting. This is a great stepping stone class for any dancer serious about dance technique.

  • Taps & Tutus (Hailey Kemp) Using ballet and tap to explore rhythm, sound, movement, and creativity - dancers will do a half-hour of tap lessons and a half-hour of creative ballet. Utilizing music to create small dances and build ballet techniques, as well as rhythm games to build on tap technique. This is a great first dance class for any small dancer to get an introduction to dance techniques. No dance experience is required!

  • Tap I / II focuses on beginning-level vocabulary and offers students an opportunity to dive into the physical and musical art form of Tap Dance. The class will focus on technique and musicality and students will be encouraged to develop their own personal style and voice through improvisation. Classic dances like the Shim Sham will also be taught!

  • Tap III/IV continues studies from Tap I / II and will have students digging into intermediate-level vocabulary and concepts. The class will focus on technique, musicality, and history, and students will be encouraged to develop their own personal style and voice through improvisation and short composition exercises. Classic dances like the Walk Around will also be taught!

  • Advanced Tap is a fast-paced and higher-level Tap Dance class, bringing all elements learned in previous levels and introducing advanced-level vocabulary and concepts. The class will focus on technique, musicality, and history, and students will be encouraged to develop their personal style and voice through improvisation and more in-depth composition exercises. Classic dances like the BS Chorus will also be taught!

    Objectives for all TAP levels:

  1. Strong understanding of fundamental steps

  2. Classic, efficient technique

  3. Appreciation and understanding of Tap Dance History

  4. Appreciation and understanding of basic music theory and some jazz standards

  5. Desire to find one’s own choreographic and improvisational voice within the realm of Tap Dance
